as the title of this post states, im a married melo!

From Our Wedding

We “ran” off to Las Vegas with our family and friends, and I recommend it to anyone who doesn’t care about centerpieces or bridesmaids dresses. We got a wedding package from a chapel, they coordinated everything, it was so simple and stress-free. It was wonderful and exactly what we wanted. I’m still Melo, just with Smith added to the end.
We flew straight from Las Vegas to Playa del Carmen and had a very lovely honeymoon. It sprinkled off and on, so I didn’t to take many photos, boo. We’ll just have to go back!

I love/hate autumn. I love the colors, the way the low sun creates shadows on everything, and shines through leaves and grass. I love the unexpected warm days when you can actually go out and enjoy the colors. I love wearing my cold-weather clothes again. But I hate autumn. I hate the shorter days. I hate the temperature dropping below 65f, rainy October days, and knowing that winter is a few months away.
Winter in Indiana is awful. It isn’t arctic, northern winter where the temperature is -20f and it snows all the time. No, its usually about 30s-40s, so we get cold rains, ice and sleet. Ice coats the roads, trees and powerlines, which brings down limbs and power. Winter coats are usually wet from rain and sleet. When it does snow, which is usually a 2-3 feet in the matter of an hour, drivers in this town freak out. Snowplows take forever to clear the roads, and by the next day, its all melted.
So when the grocery stores begin sitting out the mums, trees change color and we set back our clocks, all I can think of is the nastiness that is yet to come.

I’ve been trying to find a better way to post my twitter updates on here, as I do a lot of that now too.. I have a widget on the side with my recent updates, but it isn’t formatted very well.

I just got back from Austin, TX for the HOW design conference. It was great, if you’re interested in print, web, graphic or multimedia design, I highly recommend going. A lot of people told me I was going to loooove Austin b/c its like Bloomington, but better. It was nice, but I think my impression was tainted by the fact that it was 106 degrees the week I was there. yuck. So I didn’t really want to be outside. I’m also not a big fan of dust, and it was *dusty*. I did take a few photos around town.

I saw an interesting idea for photos on flickr called ‘through the viewfinder’. You take a picture through the viewfinder of another camera, which is a lot harder than it sounds. It made some very neat pictures, especially when I used my polaroid camera.

I think the excitement of Obama’s win clouded my brain, and I forgot I should still keep posting even though the election is over. Maybe I’ll go back to posting more non-political posts.. what a concept! :) hmm, non-political…

I’m currently in san francisco for a conference, and when I return home I will post photos from that too.
